Whether you’re looking to spend a full night out, or just a few relaxing hours together as a couple – Sometimes coming up with non-repetitive date night ideas for you and your honey can be tough!
I’ve compiled a few (what I hope to be) creative date night ideas together for you! Have fun!
Spa Day
Who needs a fancy spa membership or a pricey day out, when creating a spa at home can be just as luxurious and fun! I will have a post shortly on how to create the perfect DIY Spa Day at home ๐
Stargaze
You can get telescopes now, for relatively cheap. Head out to the backyard or country together and see what you can find in the sky!
Go Bowling
Put on your bowling shoes and head down to the bowling alley for a bit of friendly competition with your partner. This is sure to be a fun night out made all the more exciting when you fluke a strike
Start a Garden
This could be anything from flowers to herbs to vegetables. Whatever your pleasure, you’re both sure to find something you would love to watch grow. This could also be turned in to some competitive fun. Why not each pick something simple, like small vegetables and see who can get theirs to grow the quickest! If you’re thinking of starting small – Check out my DIY Tea Tin Herb Garden
Go to a Psychic
Do you dare to find out what’s in store for your future?
Go to the Casino
You don’t need to be a hardcore gambler to turn this into some great husband and wife fun. Start with say, $20 each and host your own mini Slot-Tournament! See who comes out on top within a certain amount of time!ย
Go to an Auction
Many interesting items (and people) to see! A great way to spend a morning or afternoon. Who knows what treasures you may find!
Go to Yard Sales
One of our personal favorites. We do this almost every Saturday morning, in the Summer. If you’re early risers this is a perfect husband and wife outing. Most yard sales start around 8am and end between 12-2pm. So grab your coffees and head on out early, to find the best deals! You can also download a free app, for android and iPhone, called Yard Sale Treasure Map. It will give you a list of all craigslisted Yard Sales in your area. Of course, you are bound to find more (unadvertised ones) along the way! Hosting a Yard Sale could be a lot of fun too… And a great way to bring in some extra “date-night” cash ๐
Start a Scrapbook
Do you have a ton of photos laying around, just waiting to be put on display? Why not start a scrapbook together! And although the materials for this can get quite pricey – So many places, you would generally not think of, have all the materials you need for great prices. Check out amazon for all your scrapbooking needs!
Play Board Games
Oh yes, more competitive fun! There are so many cool board games out there, whether they are adult or child related… It’s all the same when you’re trying to win lol! The next game on our “To Buy” list, is the Dexter Board Game. Oh yeah, I’m stoked for this. It’s on, Ryan! *Update: We did end up purchasing this game and love it! If you’re a Dexter fan – Check out my Review ๐
Try a new Restaurant
I don’t know about other husband and wives, but we generally stick to what we know, because they are favorites. Being a little adventurous in this area, may open your eyes to a whole new World of deliciousness to add into your routine!
Do Puzzles Together
Or better yet: Make it a competition! Each of you will pick a puzzle with the same amount of pieces, see who can recreate their puzzle the fastest. Throw in a little prize of your choice, for the winner!
At Home Movie Night
Of course, this is not a “creative” idea. However, why not turn this movie night into something a little bit different. Watch a movie that has more than one in the series. A few of my personal favorites are the Scream and Halloween movies. We also just bought the Godfather Collection and I can’t wait to lounge around one weekend, just vegging out together, with snacks and our movies!
Go to the Driving Range
A great way to kill a few hours on a lazy Sunday. Whether you are avid golfers or not even golfers at all…No harm in brushing up on your driving skills by whacking a few balls! A great way to blow off a little steam too ๐
Plan a Menu Together
Admit it ladies, we all have about 1000 delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner ideas pinned on Pinterest, just sitting there waiting to be made. Have a little fun with your husband and design a weekly (or monthly) menu of new, creative and yummy dishes to make!
Build a Project Together
Again, Pinterest is awesome for everyday, projects for around the home. Find something you both love and get to work!
Plan Your Next Vacation
This is something my husband and I frequently do. Check out resorts, islands, hotels…Whatever your pleasure. Add in even a little more fun while doing this and check out some resorts “terrible” reviews on TripAdvisor. As bad as I feel when people say they have had vacations ruined, some of these reviews are just straight up hilarious! I have easily killed a few hours reading terrible reviews.
Head Down to the Boardwalk
Assuming you live near one. This can make a perfect morning, afternoon or evening out together. One of our favorite things to do, is walk the boardwalk, hit up the beach shops and stop along the way for a pitcher of Margaritas!ย
Make Each Other an Ornament
This is something my husband and I like to do at Thanksgiving. If you’re not feeling creative on the spot..Give yourself a few weeks to plan this one out. You each come up with an idea on the perfect ornament you would like to create for one another. Last year my husband made me a snow-globe. While waiting for your delicious Thanksgiving dinner to cook, is the perfect time to play! Bring out your supplies and get to work. This really is a fun idea for anytime of year, but particularly during Holidays.
Learn Something New Together
Who says you can know too much? No one, that’s who! Why not learn a fun little skill together? Do you know how to use chopsticks? How about card tricks? What about Chess? What about learning a new language? The skies the limit when it comes to this one!
Go to a Murder Mystery Dinner
Guessing games…and food. You cannot go wrong!
Create a Bucket List Together
Where do you want to go? What do you want to see? Let your imaginations run wild and hopefully in no-time, you’ll be checking things off!
Check out GROUPON and WAGJAG
When you’re really stuck for ideas, or want to plan some fun activities in advance, these are the perfect places to look for discounted fun! Don’t forget to sign into your Ebates Account before making a purchase. Now even more discounted and for doing what you were already going to do – SHOP! Awesome!
Create a Vision Board Together
If you don’t know what a Vision Board is – This is a really fun activity you can both get involved in. Check out my post on How to Create a Vision Board – Have FUN!!
Fruit Picking
Strawberries, apples, raspberries or whatever your local ‘picking farms’ may have to offer – This is the perfect way to spend the day having some relaxing fun! I am excited to apple pick with my husband this Fall – I make a delicious Salted Caramel Apple Pie. Ahh.. Fall weather is the best!
Go-Karting
Hit up the midway and take a few laps around the track!
Picnic
Sounds cliche, I know. But you know.. I never see people picnicking anymore. Why not?! Throw together some delicious deli meat, grapes, a nice pesto and a loaf of french bread in a sweet little picnic basket and off you go! Don’t forget your blanket!
Get Hooked on a New Show
Truth be told, my husband and I have (forever) been trying to sit down and watch Boardwalk Empire. I hear it’s amazing! Have a relaxing night at home complete with your favorite snacks and beverages and kick back!
Go to a Play
This is one great date that I have been trying to get my husband involved with. You really don’t need to be a theater-buff or all hoity-toity to enjoy this night out (I definitely am not either). But I mean..Have you seen Jersey Boys? WOW!!
Wine & Cheese Tasting
I have wanted to do this since…forever! This is a great one for the wine lover. Honestly, the only reason I have put this fun date idea off, is because drinking usually requires a full 24 hour recovery…Sometimes longer :)) But hey, if you can handle it.. Do it! Again, hit up groupon or wag-jag for any deals…I see wine tasting events listed all the time!
Date nights don’t need to be expensive to be memorable or fun!
They also don’t need to follow the classic norm of dinner and a movie. Mix it up!
If you’re on a budget, have dinner at home and then head out to your event..
Nothing wrong with that at all! In fact, with many of these ideas you’ll see that you can easily plan a great night at home – Now that’s awesome
I hope this list has given you a few *newer* ideas on what to do on date night!
Do you have a great idea you think I should add?
Take Care,
