The Christmas Grandma Ran Away from Home
The Christmas Grandma Ran Away from Home
Author:  Nancy Warren
Description:  "For every woman who's ever felt overwhelmed and under-appreciated at Christmas comes the story of a decent woman, a widowed grandmother, respected matriarch of a big, noisy family who snaps one holiday season and decides to run away for the holidays. Little does she realize what adventures are in store.  Long time widow Sandy Forbes is breaking out this Christmas. In her 71 years on earth she has stuffed and cooked 55 Christmas turkeys, baked hundreds of pies, turned out thousands of shortbread cookies and hoisted enough pine trees in her living room to reforest the Amazon. Her family love her. They come to her for every occasion, eating, drinking, squabbling and then leaving her with a mass of dishes and a mountain of crumpled holiday wrap. But this is the year everything changes. When she wants someone else to take over Christmas dinner, the family lays a big guilt trip on her and Grandma rebels. Sandy’s giving herself a gift this Christmas. She’s running away from home for the holidays…

My View:
First off – I wanted to tell you I chose this book because…I love granny's lol.
My own have passed on, but my husband's is so adorable!  She has a million stories to tell, the memory of an elephant and has more energy than my husband and I put together hah!  Alright…So that's the only sentimental thing outta me today 😉
Let's get onto the review.
I absolutely loved this little title.  It was full of everything you could want:  A little bit of sassiness, adventure and love.  I read this in about 30ish minutes, so I don't want to write an extended review, given it's short length.  I will say this however:  Bill sounds like a terrible son lol!  Sandy is bold and sensible and Earl is kind hearted and sweet.  I loved when she said "No memories until we make some of our own" – {You'll have to read it to find out what I'm referencing}!  But that is something my husband and I do as well…Make new memories, of new places and things.
The ending has left me wanting  needing to follow the next in the series (Grandma Catches a Wave).  I would definitely recommend this short, sweet and Christmassy read – You'll want to snuggle right in for a nightcap with Sandy and Earl!  You can download your copy of The Christmas Grandma Ran Away from Home, from amazon.com or amazon.ca

4 out of 5 Candy Canes – By the end I was really wrapped up & anticipating Sandy's next adventure!
