These Pickled Onions are so super easy (and delicious) they make a perfect addition to burgers, hot dogs, marinara sauce – You name it!
The best part about these pickled onions is, I bet you have all the ingredients already on hand – So let’s get started!
Sweet and Spicy Pickled Onions
1/2 Tsp Thyme
1/2 Celery Salt
2 Cups White Onion
1/2 Cup White Sugar
1/2 Tsp Minced Garlic
1/2 Tsp Garlic Powder
1/2 Cup White Vinegar
1/2 Tsp Sriracha Sauce
1/2 Tsp Mustard Powder
1/2 Tsp Worcheshire Sauce
Forkful of Banana Peppers – optional
Slice onion(s) into rings and place in a bowl of ice water for about 30 minutes.
In the meantime, whisk together your mixture with the rest of the ingredients, making sure the sugar has dissolved into the liquid.
After 30 minutes, drain and shake off any excess water from the onions – Place into a mason jar and pour mixture over.
Throw in a small forkful of Hot Banana Peppers and give another shake for good measure and ensure everything has mixed together and dissolved properly.
Allow at least 24 hour marinade – But the longer you let them sit, the better!
* NOTE: Do not fill your jar to the top with liquid, as it will thicken and rise as it rests! 🙂 Enjoy!
