Whether you're looking for a game day crowd pleaser, or a quick, yet delicious appetizer to ring in the New Year…
Bacon Wrapped Little Smokies will not fail!
Throw together this super simple appetizer in a short period of time and watch the smiles as they are quickly (and I do mean quickly) devoured!
You Will Need
9×13 Baking Dish
1 Full Package Bacon
1+ Cup of Brown Sugar (I use Golden)
1 Package Little Smokies Cocktail Wieners
1 Stick of Butter (My preference is "I Can't Believe it's Not Butter – The flavor is amazing in this recipe!)
Important NOTES for CANADIANS:
**Little Smokies can be found at: Loblaws, No Frills and SuperCenter.
** With the cut back of packaged bacon sizes, you will now require 1½ to 2 packages of bacon per package of Little Smokies.
Preheat oven to 375°
Lightly Spray your 9×13 Baking Dish
Cut strips of bacon into thirds before you begin – It will drastically cut down prep time!
Wrap each little smokie in a piece of bacon and place into dish, seam side down.
Continue doing this until your dish is full – One pack of bacon and one pack of smokies should fit perfectly!
Bake your Little Smokies at 375° for 20 minutes.
After 20 minutes: Turn oven up to 400° and bake for approx 15 more minutes, or until bacon is crispy!
Be sure to keep an eye on your smokies – Every oven bakes at a different rate!
Melt down 1 stick of Butter, stirring in your 1 Cup of Brown Sugar.
I like to do this on the stove top, rather than the microwave.
Whisk until all clumps are removed.
Once smooth, pour evenly over the smokies.
Next, sprinkle the top with a bit more brown sugar.
Most recipes I have seen will tell you to sprinkle over another 1 cup.
Personally, I find this makes them just way too sweet and takes away from the delicious flavor.
While waiting for your smokies to cool – Stick each one with a toothpick and arrange on a platter.
These are so delicious, they'll be gone in minutes!
