Sabor by Texas Pete Mexican-Style Hot Sauce: Review + Taco Pie Recipe

Howdy, Friends!
With Cinco de Mayo just around the corner, this awesome sauce (haha) couldn’t have come at a more perfect time.  Although I do have to say, hot sauce is used on a regular basis in this household so any time would be the perfect time!

taco pie recipeToday I am excited to bring you a tasty review (and recipe), Taco Pie featuring ¡Sabor! by Texas Pete® Mexican-Style Hot Sauce.

Being that ¡Sabor! by Texas Pete® Mexican-Style Hot Sauce is “Mexican-Style”, what better way to celebrate an authentic (as you can get without leaving home) flavor and style, than with an easy, flavor packed Taco Pie.  I love Taco Pie because it’s super versatile.  Serve in a pie shell, in tortillas, mixed in with rice…It seems the skies the limit when it comes to a delicious, Mexican taco filling.
Lemme tell you, I absolutely loved this hot sauce. This is not your “standard” hot sauce.  Sabor by Texas Pete has a distinct, not bitter, but full flavored taste.  I cannot wait to incorporate it into our daily life recipes, such as a simple condiment for eggs!

That being said, today we’ll be dishin’ out a healthy serving of *spicy* Taco Pie, of course created around the flavorings of Texas Pete Hot Sauce!  I hope you’ll give it a try!

Taco Pie Recipe
1lb Ground Beef
1 Frozen Pie Shell
1/2 – 1 Cup Corn Chips
1 Cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
1/2 Cup Corn (Frozen or Canned)
2 Green Onions or 1 Small Onion (diced)
1 Cup Diced Tomatoes (I used canned w/liquid)
1 Bell Pepper (Diced, your choice of color)
1/2 – 1 tsp Sabor Hot Sauce by Texas Pete (Your spicy preference!)

Dry Spices Needed
1/4 tsp Cumin
1/4 tsp Paprika
1 tsp Chili Powder
1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
1/4 tsp Onion Powder

Let’s Begin
1)  In a pan brown the ground beef, along with your onion and pepper.  Drain if necessary.

2)  Next, add in Tomatoes, Corn Kernels, Hot Sauce and Spices.  Mix and warm thoroughly, allowing mixture to thicken up.  About 10 minutes.

3)  Transfer mixture to frozen pie shell.  Top with Corn Chips and Shredded Cheese (about 1 cup of each)

4)  Bake as directed on package or until crust is brown and cheese is bubbly!  About 20-25 minutes in a 375 degree oven.

Garnish with Your Choice of Toppings When Ready to Serve:
Lettuce
Cilantro
Tomatoes
Sour Cream

I hope you enjoyed this review and recipe!
